To delete your Facebook account, follow these steps:

### **1. Backup Your Data (Optional)**

If you want to save any photos, posts, or information, it's a good idea to download a copy of your Facebook data before deleting your account.

1. **Go to Facebook Settings:**

   - Open Facebook and log in.

   - Click on the **downward arrow** at the top right (on desktop) or tap the **three horizontal lines** on mobile.

   - Select **Settings & Privacy** > **Settings**.

2. **Download Your Data:**

   - In the left column (desktop), click **Your Facebook Information**.

   - On mobile, go to **Personal Information**.

   - Click on **Download Your Information**.

   - Select the data you want to download and choose a time range, format, and media quality.

   - Click **Create File**.

### **2. Delete Your Facebook Account**

#### **For Desktop:**

1. **Go to Settings**: 

   - Click the **downward arrow** at the top right, then **Settings & Privacy** > **Settings**.

   

2. **Access the "Your Facebook Information" Section**: 

   - In the left column, click **Your Facebook Information**.

3. **Delete Your Account**: 

   - Click **Deactivation and Deletion**.

   - Choose **Permanently Delete Account**.

   - Click **Continue to Account Deletion**.

4. **Confirm**: 

   - You may be asked to enter your password and go through a few prompts to confirm deletion.

   - Click **Delete Account**.

#### **For Mobile App:**

1. **Go to Settings**:

   - Open the **Facebook app**, tap the **three horizontal lines** (menu) at the top or bottom right.

   - Scroll down and tap **Settings & Privacy** > **Settings**.

2. **Access Account Settings**: 

   - Scroll down to **Personal Information** > **Account Ownership and Control**.

3. **Delete Account**: 

   - Tap **Deactivation and Deletion**.

   - Choose **Delete Account** > **Continue**.

4. **Confirm**: 

   - Enter your password and confirm the deletion.

### **3. Account Deletion Process**

- **Grace Period**: Facebook gives you a 30-day grace period to cancel the deletion. If you log back in during this time, your account will be reactivated.

- **Permanent Deletion**: After 30 days, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted. This can take up to 90 days to fully complete on Facebook's servers.
