Another famous story is that of Prahlad, the son of the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Despite his father’s cruelty and hatred for Lord Vishnu, Prahlad was a devoted follower of Vishnu, which led to numerous attempts on his life by his father. However, his mother, Kayadu, played a pivotal role in shaping Prahlad’s devotion.

  • Mother’s Influence: Kayadu, although the wife of a demon king, was a devout and virtuous woman. While in prison, she nurtured her son with love and compassion, telling him stories of Lord Vishnu. This made Prahlad a firm devotee of Vishnu from a very young age.

  • Unwavering Love: Despite her husband’s oppressive nature, Kayadu was protective of Prahlad and ensured that he was not influenced by the hatred and cruelty of his father. In many ways, she is depicted as a mother who, despite difficult circumstances, ensured that her son grew up with love, compassion, and devotion.
