In Hindu mythology, the story of Lord Shiva and Parvati’s son, Lord Ganesha, is also a famous tale of the relationship between a mother and son.

  • Creation of Ganesha: Goddess Parvati created Ganesha from the dirt of her body while Lord Shiva was away. When Shiva returned, he did not recognize Ganesha and, in a fit of anger, beheaded him. Parvati, heartbroken, insisted that Shiva restore her son. Eventually, Shiva revived Ganesha by giving him the head of an elephant.

  • Mother’s Love and Protection: Throughout the story, Parvati’s maternal love for Ganesha shines brightly. Even though he is a unique deity with an elephant’s head, she loves him unconditionally. This story exemplifies a mother's deep connection with her child, willing to go through any length to ensure his well-being.
